Cachoeiro Stone Fair completes 20 years and confirms the strength of Espirito Santo in the dimensional stone sector, the state responds for 50% of all the national production and for 65% of the exportations.
The International Marble and Granite Fair – Cachoeiro Stone Fair – completes 20 years in 2009 and, during this period, the event merged into the national calendar of events and expanded its importance into the global market, transforming its self into a strong scenario for good business. With exhibitors from various Brazilian states and from other countries, the 20th edition of the fair happens on august 25th – 28th in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in Espirito Santo, and it promises to heat up the dimensional stone segment.
O Espírito Santo se tornou referência mundial em mármore e granito e líder absoluto na produção nacional de rochas, concentrando mais de 90% dos investimentos do parque industrial brasileiro do setor de rochas ornamentais. O Estado capixaba também abriga o segundo maior polo industrial do mundo no setor e o maior das Américas, sendo o maior produtor, processador e exportador do Brasil.
Espírito Santo became a world reference in marble and granite and an absolute leader in the national production of stones, concentrating more then 90% of the industrial park investments for the dimensional stone sector. The State also shelters the second largest dimensional stone industrial pole of the world and the largest of the Latin America, being the largest producer, processor and exporter of Brazil.
It’s within this scenario that happens the Cachoeiro Stone Fair 2009, the events with moves the southern region of Espirito Santo, where it concentrates 70% of the Brazilian marble reserves. The mayor of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Carlos Casteglione, stated the importance of the event for the city. “The fair proportions advancements in one of the most important sectors of our economy. Besides this, it brings investments and generates resources. At the Cachoeiro Stone Fair our companies do business and make contact with people from other states and even from other countries” states Casteglione.
This year the event celebrates two decades, the exhibitors promise to bring equipments, machines, products and service innovations. Besides this, a special attraction – a gang saw from the 60s – promises to get the attention of the visitors. The gang saw will be displayed during the fair, giving the evolution dimension of the dimensional stone sector, which today is endowed with great technology.
Cachoeiro Stone Fair is promoted by Sindirochas and Cetemag-ES, and is presented by Milanez & Milaneze.
Base Industry – During the Cachoeiro Stone Fair, Sebrae/ES will shelter the Espirito Santo Machine Pole Project in a booth with the aim to strengthen the machine sector of Espirito Santo and to bring new business opportunities. This action allows for new partnerships and will stimulate the competition among the companies of the sector. “The goods fabricating companies take advantage of this opportunity to launch new equipments and accessories, because the fair is a great show window for the national market of machines for the stone sector, being that, in this edition, the focus is in the fabrication shops, with an equipment line to motivate the shops”, stated the superintendent of Sebrae-ES, João Felício Scardua.
Sustainability in evidence – The re-utilization of the liquid which is used for sawing and polishing of the dimensional stone blocks and the re-utilization of the solid wastes in diverse materials used by the civil construction industries. These are just some of the novelties that will be shown at the International Marble and Granite Fair (Cachoeiro Stone Fair) and is parallel with the sustainability, concept which is more and more present in the lives of the companies. The new liquid and solid re-utilization treatment system was developed by the company Pegoretti Engenharia, in partnership the Environmental Engineer course in the Federal State college (UFES). The equipment utilized in the process is the result of a research started in 2006 by UFES and will be displayed at the Cachoeiro Stone Fair.
Presence of Bahia – Rich in noble granites and exotics and producer of the Bege Bahia, the state of Bahia will be represented in the Cachoeiro Stone Fair by CBPM (Bahia’s Mineral Research Company). CBPM draws social actions, through city grants, associations e cooperative enterprises and one of these examples is the Assobeje (Association of the Bege Bahia Marble), which also participates in the event. The technical director of CBPM, Rafael Avena, said that the incentive is to bring the association to the event to increase the sales of the Beje Bahia Marble.
Heavy Promotion – The exhibitors and visitors of the Cachoeiro Stone Fair could leave the event with some extra weight in their baggage. For the second year in a row, the organizers of the fair presented the promotion “The power of the Stone – A truck of slabs”, which will raffle 41 granite slabs, worth about R$ 15.4 thousand. The prize happens on the last day of the event (Aug.28) and the prize will be delivered to winner’s house. Last year, the winning company was Stylo Pedras, from Brasilia (DF). Granite use in public thoroughfares – Decorated with grey, red and black granite, the Praça da Coluna da Hora, in Sobral (CE), will be addressed by the architect Antônio Carlos Campelo Costa in the seminar about “The Preservation of the historical ranch through its tumble”. Built in the 40s, the Praça (park) was reopened in 2007 with recovery to the important aspects of its original projects and with a amp amount of granite in its sidewalks and equipments. The architectural project of the Praça de Sobral shows that the use of marble and granite in public thoroughfares has become a recent tendency, which could become popular because of resistance and durability of the material, besides its easy maintenance. The exhibitors and visitors which participate in Cachoeiro Stone Fair will get to know more about the history of the Praça da Hora and how the granite is presence.
Application possibilities of stones in public areas – The use of granite in public thoroughfare will be one of the subjects presented at the Cachoeiro Stone Fair, which will also count with a specific space, created by the architect Renato Paldês, to show the various possibilities of stone application in public thoroughfares. The presentation of this theme at the Cachoeiro Stone Fair, has the objective to arouse the interest of the material in the cities. The use of granite in public thoroughfares is common in cities like London and Paris. In the Champ Elysées, one of the most important roads of the city of light, were placed thick slabs of granite, 7cm thick. The city of Vitoria also has a few examples of the material, the main ones are Praça do Para, in Enseada do Suá, and the sidewalk of Praia de Camburi.
